NY Town set to repeal worm digging law

A bizarre law which has become a nuisance for the town clerk was enacted in the 1930's in Smithtown Long Island. The law requires a permit for anyone gathering worms. The law also requires diggers to disclose the exact location of the worm "hunt" and was enacted to prevent nonresidents from poaching the towns worm population. The cost of an annual permit is .50 cents.
