Bill proposed to establish a Central Registry for Pet Abuse in New York State

Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60) has sponsored S.6875 which would amend the state Agriculture and Markets Law to have the Commissioner create and maintain an animal abuse registry for the State of New York. The bill comes after the successful enactment of such legislation in Suffolk and Erie counties and is modeled after the proposals for those counties.

According to a press release from the Senator’s office, five states, including Arizona, Maryland, Florida, Colorado and New York have pending legislation that would create and allow the public access to such a database.
